INDIANAPOLIS — Thanksgiving is less than a week away and there are many events scheduled for Hoosiers to celebrate the holiday.
Two holiday races are scheduled for Thanksgiving morning: Wheeler Mission’s 21st Annual Drumstick Dash and Baxter YMCA’s 20th Annual Family Fun Turkey Run.
Drumstick Dash begins at 9 a.m. at Broad Ripple. This event has a 7.3 mile course and a 4.3 mile course. The free Lil Gobblers Run for children 12 and under starts at 10:15 a.m.
Pre- and post-race festivities will be held near Broad Ripple Station Shopping Center. Local cover band Dream Slice! A concert will be held before the race starts.
Adults and children ages 8-12 can register for the event for $42 and $37, respectively. Prices for individual registration will increase on November 22nd.
The Family Fun Turkey Run begins at 8:30 a.m. at Perry Meridian High School. At this year’s event, runners will have access to 4-mile and 1-mile courses.
Multiple Thanksgiving dinner events will also be held throughout central Indiana, including the Mozelle Sanders Foundation Thanksgiving Dinner and the 40th Annual James L. Warner Thanksgiving Dinner.
The Mozelle Sanders Foundation Dinner begins at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, 418 E 34th St., Indianapolis.
The James L. Warner dinner begins at 10 a.m. at Zion Baptist Church in Anderson, Indiana. Grab-and-go dinners are available for pick-up starting at 11 a.m. To order takeout, call (765) 648-6868.

Chef Borel’s Kitchen and Flair Beauty Lounge will also be offering free Thanksgiving meals in Indianapolis on Thursday.
Chef Borels Kitchen and FLAIR Beauty Lounge are located at 6950michigan Rd. and 1929 E 38th St. Both restaurants will begin serving dinner from noon.
