Barrington cross section: In Barrington, Crystal Lake South’s Bella Fontana, Avery Watson, Mackenzie Resch and Abby Uhl took first place in the 400-yard freestyle with a time of 3:30.80, and the Gators will advance to Westmont next weekend in six events. They qualified for the state tournament to be held at FMC Natatorium.
Minami Co-op finished third on the team with 148 points. Stevenson won the sectional title with 266 points, followed by Fremd (187.50 points).
Fontana, Resch, Watson and Uhl also qualified for state by placing third in the 200 free relay (1:37.44). Individually competing in the state meet are Uhl in the 200 free (1:51.86) and 100 free (51.86), Fontana in the 50 free (24.21) and Watson in the 100 butterfly (57.64).
In diving, Cary-Grove’s Maggie Bendel took first place with a score of 504.95 points, defeating Rada Volkov of Stevenson (470.60 points) to qualify for state. CG’s Maddie Crick also won in the diving (373.70 points), earning her the final qualifying spot.
Among local swimmers, Marian Central’s Abby Hill also qualified in the 200 free (1:52.24) and 500 free (4:54.01). Hill was first in the 500 free.
St. Charles North cross section: In St. Charles, Dundee-Clown’s Eliana Niemi, Tessa Iverson, Caitlin Mumper and Rachel Johnson qualified for the state meet in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:36.32.
Niemi won the 50 free (24.21), Johnson qualified in both the 100 free (51.67) and 100 backstroke (56.19), and Kaitlin Tomaszewski won the 100 breaststroke. (1 minute 08.23 seconds) to take first place and move on to the next.
Burlington Central’s Hannah Johnson won the 200 free (1:55.92) and 500 free (5:06.67), while teammate Kate Farrell won the 200 free (1:53.82). won the right to participate.
Cross section of Lake Forest: At Lake Forest, Woodstock North Co-op’s Bela Volta placed second in the 50 free (24.26 seconds), advancing to next weekend’s state meet.

Hononega Kickoff Tournament: At Viking Lanes in South Beloit, Marengo’s Justin Pflueger took second place with 1,112 pins and won the high game of the tournament with 277 pins.
The Indians finished fourth as a team with 4,906 pins in the 12-team tournament.
Hunter Pankow had a high game of 235 and finished fifth individually with a 1,083 series.
