Charlie Kirk posted screenshots showing that he has Grindr and barq installed on his phone, apps “by furries, for furries”, and complains about the “woke gay agenda”.
According to a rumor that spread online in the form of a screenshot of X's post in August 2024, Charlie Kirk, founder and president of Turning Point USA, accidentally revealed that he has the LGBTQ+ dating app Grindr and the “by furries, for furries” social app barq installed on his phone.
In the same post, Kirk LGBTQ+ Pride Flag Using the colours of an iPhone storage capacity chart, he reportedly wrote, “I checked the storage capacity on my phone and discovered the gay awareness movement is alive and well. Is anyone surprised?”
However, the post was completely fake and was clearly intended as a caustic joke. Kirk never made any such post.
The fake screenshot was spread by X-user @AnnieForTruth on August 27th. Shared (Archived) with the comment, “Hey Charlie Kirk, nothing surprises me except that your number one app is Grindr!” The post has been viewed more than 1.2 million times.
Another user asked (Archived), perhaps jokingly, asked, “He doesn't have this on his profile, do you think he realized this was his top app and deleted it?”
We asked Please let @AnnieForTruth know if the fake post originated from that account or was found elsewhere online, and we'll update this story if we hear back.
According to Google Reverse Image SearchA similarly satirical iPhone storage space screenshot, which appears to be poking fun at the “anti-woke” anger often expressed by conservatives, occurred at least a year earlier, likely on June 16th, 2023 X. post (Archived) was posted by user @FeebTurkey. Other users have posted the same screenshot without any mention of Kirk. Image credit and Reddit.
The inspiration to create the fake Kirk post may have come from X-user @propaganda91's repost (archived) of a screenshot of iPhone storage space on August 25. That post has been viewed more than 500,000 times.
