reggie houston quartet
Saxophonist Reggie Houston spent more than 20 years as a member of the Fats Domino Band, and throughout his extensive career he has performed with Dr. John, Irma Thomas, Dave Bartholomew, Professor Longhair, Chuck Berry, and the Neville Brothers. , Charmaine Neville, The Survivors, and other hosts. After spending more than 15 years in Portland, Oregon, Houston recently returned to his hometown. “Evil”
The popular music based on “The Wizard of Oz” tells the story of the friendship between the young witches Elphaba and Glinda. Elphaba is ostracized because of her green skin, but Glinda is naturally beautiful. Their relationship is tested when Elphaba learns the truth about Oz. Liz Phair’s The Exile of Guyville was a smash hit when it was released in 1993, and the rocker’s debut album has only grown in importance in the alternative rock canon. Fair wrote this album in response to the “Guyville” of Chicago’s indie rock scene at the time. ‘Exile’ was hailed as a feminist breakthrough album in ’90s rock because of the way she fully incorporated herself into her songwriting. Fair is on tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of “The Exile of Guyville,” which will be performed at the Orpheum Theater on Thursday, November 30th at 7pm. Blonde shell opens. pretty light
Producer and DJ Derek Vincent Smith’s Pretty Lights have been influencing the electronic music world for nearly two decades. But after a big show at Red Rocks in 2018, the project was put on hold until this spring, when a 27-date Soundship Space System tour was announced. He will finish his tour in New Orleans and spend three nights at Mardi Gras World. Pretty Lights has long had close ties to New Orleans. The album A Color Map of the Sun features more than a dozen local musicians, and drummer Alvin Ford Jr. is a regular member of his band Pretty Lights. Lacuna Productions is hosting a long weekend of DJs and visual artists celebrating (but not officially affiliated with) electronic musician Pretty Lights’ show in New Orleans. The New Orleans takeover featured Chris Kearns (of the Pretty Lights band), Cut Chemist (performing a hip-hop 50th anniversary tribute), Scratch Bastid, DJ Nu-Mark, Groove Sauce, Park Breezy, and more. A set by will be featured. The late night show will be held at Café Istanbul from Friday 1st December until Sunday 3rd December. Dana Ives’ Christmas Spectacular
New Orleans alternative rock band Dana Ives will headline a mini music and arts festival on Saturday, Dec. 2, at The Rabbit Hole. In addition to Dana Ives, the two stages will feature Quarks, Midriff, The Quadroholics, Beach Angel, Zack Smallman, Lisbon Girls, Virtue Signal, and Kid Love.
