The NCK Tech Foundation is pleased to announce the annual Founders Week at NCK Tech. This celebration honors the pioneering spirit that conceived and established North Central Kansas Technical College in 1964 and those who have served since.
As NCK Tech celebrates its 59th anniversary, Founders Week, Nov. 6 to Nov. 10, promises to be a week of reflection, gratitude and community spirit on both the Beloit and Hays campuses. It has been.
In 1963, a group of prominent pioneers had a vision to establish a local technical education institution. Their tenacity and dedication led to the creation of NCK Tech as Kansas’ first technical college. Founders Week is a special time to honor these visionary leaders, as well as the instructors, administrators, and all members of the NCK Tech community who have contributed to a legacy of excellence.
Founders Week is packed with exciting events in Beloit and Hays that bring together students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community to celebrate the spirit of NCK Tech.
On Monday, Nov. 6, Founders Week begins with a birthday party on the Beloit campus commemorating NCK Tech founders and the founding of the technical college. Students, faculty and staff enjoy cupcakes, decorations, and fun birthday party food and activities.
The NCK Tech Foundation will recognize this year’s Hall of Fame Award recipients on Tuesday, November 7th at 4:30 pm in Room B of the Dreyling Business and Vocational Center on the Hays Campus. Joe Hess, a former board member who played a central role in establishing NCK Tech’s Hays campus, will be honored. The general public is welcome to participate.
Following Tuesday’s Hall of Fame ceremony, an evening social event will be held at Defiance Taproom in Hayes, where the new Trailblazer beer will debut. This event is open to the public and NCK Tech invites community members and alumni to celebrate this special week.
On Wednesday, Nov. 8, the NCK Tech Foundation will present its annual Hall of Fame Awards in the Student Union conference room on the Beloit campus. This year’s recipient is longtime carpentry instructor John Lackey, his second employee hired at his NCK Tech in Beloit. The general public is welcome to participate.
Later that evening, the public is invited to a community and alumni event at the Kettle in downtown Beloit to introduce the new Trailblazer beer, courtesy of Defiance Brewing Company.
At the end of the week, on Thursday, Nov. 9, another birthday party will be held at NCK Tech’s Hays campus in honor of NCK Tech’s founder and the founding of the technical college. Students, faculty and staff will once again enjoy cupcakes, decorations, and fun birthday party activities.
During Founders Week, NCK Tech works with donors to make a difference in the lives of future students. All supporters of NCK Tech are invited to participate in the “Week of Giving Match” campaign from November 6th to 10th.
