Holiday events are starting to return in Muscatine.
Both annual events and new events are scheduled for late November and early December. The kickoff to the holiday season is expected to be nothing short of “jolly and bright.”
Mayor and Chamber of Commerce President Brad Burke expressed his excitement for these great holiday activities in a public statement.
“Muscatine is known for its beautiful riverfront, parks and historic downtown, which perfectly captures our holiday spirit. We invite you to join us to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. Please join us,” he said.
Starting Thanksgiving night, residents are invited to experience Weed Park’s all-new drive-thru light display, “Illuminate.” The drive-thru experience will feature more than 40 professional lighting displays for families and holiday fans to enjoy. All funds raised through this event will benefit Crossroads and Senior Resources, so a $10 donation per vehicle is suggested.

On Sunday, November 26th, the famous and always well-lit Canadian Pacific-Kansas City Holiday Train will return to Muscatine’s riverfront.
The train is scheduled to arrive at 7:30 p.m. After arrival from 7:45pm until 8:15pm, you can enjoy a performance by Canadian singer-songwriter Kiesza and Australian country music duo Seaforth.
The Holiday Train Show is free to attend, but CPKC asks attendees to bring a cash or non-perishable food donation if possible.
On Friday, Dec. 1, the annual Jingle and Mingle Holiday Stroll will be held in Downtown Muscatine from 5:30 to 8 p.m. This event occupies six blocks of the downtown area, so guests have plenty to see and do during their vacation. stroll. Includes photo opportunities with Santa and other holiday characters, free hot chocolate and live music, and more than 30 of his businesses offering unique shopping and special opportunities.
The annual Candy Cane Hunt, a free event open to children from preschool through fourth grade, will also be held along the river on Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. It will also be the first time that the Norbert F. Becky Bridge will host a nightly synchronized music and light show. It will run every night until January 1, 2024.
On Sunday, Dec. 3, Habitat for Humanity – Muscatine will host a Christmas tour of its homes from 2 to 4 p.m. Guests can tour some of Muscatine’s most beautiful homes. Each one is fully decorated for the holidays. Self-guided tour. Includes local history and inspiration for holiday displays at home.
“It’s going to be a great event,” said Jessica Miart of Habitat for Humanity. “Muscatine has a lot of great historic homes and they are really beautiful… We have five homes ready this year and we hope to build more next year. We would like to make this an annual event.”
The home included in the tour is 518 Roscoe Avenue. 207 Broadway Street; 716 West 3rd Street; 200 Ash Street; and 60 Weir Street. A Christmas village will also be set up on Weir Street, with other selected homes also offering delicious treats.
Tickets for the tour are $20 per person, with all proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity. Tickets are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
