Boone North Carolina – The App State volleyball team defeated ULM 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, 28-26) on Friday at the Holmes Convocation Center. The win was the team’s second consecutive sweep following last Saturday’s sweep of Georgia State and the team’s eighth of the season.

The Mountaineers took a 4-2 lead in the first set on back-to-back kills from Winterhoff and an ace from Kane. As the Warhawks tried to catch up, Ambrose’s kill gave the Mountaineers an 8-5 lead. ULM grabbed the first point of the third set and gained momentum to take a 6-3 lead. The Black and Gold tied him 7-7 and he tied 13-13. App State got within one of the Warhawks’ lead after a kill by Leahy and a Warhawk error (16-15). While ULM continued to dominate, App State kept pace, closing the gap to 23-21 with a kill from Ambrose. ULM reached set point at 24-21, but the Mountaineers responded with a kill from Ambrose, a block from Pleasure/Cain, and a kill from Pleasure to tie the game at 24-24. After ULM led 25-24, Ambrose had a kill to tie the score at 25-all. ULM had one final kill before the Mountaineers took the set (28-26) and the match (3-0) after a kill by Denny and two consecutive kills by Winterhoff.
