MOSCOW, ID — An investigation led to the arrest of a 26-year-old Clarkston woman on suspicion of a series of thefts at multiple Walmart stores in North Idaho.
At approximately 8:02 p.m. on Oct. 23, Moscow police officers were called to Walmart in reference to a theft in progress.
When they arrived on scene, a Walmart Asset Protection employee reported that a white female with long blonde hair was hiding items in the cosmetics aisle. She put some items in her cart and left the store without paying.
The woman reportedly left Walmart and got into the driver’s seat of a black two-door sedan that had deep white scratches and damage to the rear bumper.
An officer was driving westbound on Pullman Road when he saw a vehicle matching the description being driven by a woman. Officers attempted to approach the vehicle before turning on their emergency lights.
The driver of a mid-1990s black Thunderbird sped up and ran a red light. They continued to speed as officers activated their emergency lights.
In a 35 mph zone, drivers reached speeds of 65 to 75 mph. Officers called off the pursuit because the car was driving recklessly in traffic.
Law enforcement reviewed surveillance footage from Walmart, where the woman allegedly stole merchandise totaling $239.34. She allegedly took a flashlight, two packs of Hart 20V batteries, two 2.6-ounce bottles of Dove shampoo, shaving gel, two packs of Intuition women’s razors, and other items.
Moscow police posted on Facebook in hopes of identifying the suspect. On Oct. 24, a Lewiston resident and manager at Ulta Beauty in Clarkston called and helped identify her.
A review of surveillance footage identified the suspect as 26-year-old Amanda Schroeder.
Law enforcement reviewed her file and determined she was a suspect in an Oct. 19 theft at a Walmart in Clarkston. Security photos provided by her allowed Moscow police to identify her as a match.
Schroeder was registered as homeless in Clarkston, Washington, and his phone number was unavailable. She has a long criminal history in both Nez Perce County and the state of Idaho.
On January 2nd, Amanda Schroeder made her first appearance in Latah County Court on these cases. Her next hearing is scheduled for Jan. 11 at 10 a.m.
