The manufacturer received over 140 reports of broken activity center straps.
More than 115,000 Costco Jump, Spin & Play activity center products are being recalled due to potential fall and injury hazards, according to a notice from the Consumer Product Safety Commission on Thursday.
Dorell Juvenile Group announced this week that it is working with the CPSC to recall 115,700 Costco Jump, Spin & Play activity centers. Parents and consumers are advised to stop using the product immediately.
According to the CPSC, the Costco activity centers being recalled are sold exclusively in the U.S. at Walmart stores and on Walmart’s website for about $70, and the straps may come off or break while a child is inside the activity center. There is a possibility that the child may get into an accident. fall or get injured. The recalled products were sold from December 2020 to October 2023, Dorrell said.
A Walmart spokesperson told GMA in an email that the retailer “began removing products immediately after the official recall announcement.”
To date, there have been 141 reports of activity center straps coming off or breaking, and 38 reports of minor injuries to children, including bruises, bumps and scratches, including to the head, Dorrell said.
The recalled Cosco Jump, Spin & Play Activity Centers have model numbers WA105FZW and WA105GML and were manufactured in China in both blue and pink colors. A circular hoop base, three vertical poles (two of which have removable animal toys), a child seat attached to the poles with three bungee straps, and two additional removable animal toys. Comes with a play tray filled with toys. Activity center products are adjustable to three different heights.
A similar model, the WA105HCM (which has an additional black safety strap on one of the bungee straps), is not part of the recall, Dorrell said. A label with the model number is located under the seat tray.
The affected products were manufactured by Dorel, based in Columbus, Indiana.
People affected by the recall are asked to contact Dorrell to obtain a replacement activity center free of charge. Dorel said on its recall website that consumers will be instructed to cut the straps on the affected products and will be asked to send the company a photo of the cut strap to receive a free replacement product.
