MONROE, La. (KNOE) – If you've been to the Walmart on Louisville Avenue, you may have noticed construction going on inside the store, and as it turns out, shoppers will be seeing more of that work in the coming weeks.
In a press release, Walmart announced plans for an “extensive renovation” of the Monroe store.
Monroe store manager Stacey Martin said the improvements will enhance customers' shopping experience.
“Walmart has been a part of the Monroe community for nearly 36 years and is always looking for ways to better serve our customers,” Martin said. “Renovating our current store will allow us to provide our customers with added convenience and an enhanced shopping experience. We ask for your patience while improvements are made.”
So what exactly is being “enhanced”?
Walmart officials said customers can expect the following improvements:
- The building has been newly painted inside and out.
- Adding a grocery section makes it easier for customers to get around
- Improving the service area of ​​the Auto Care Center
- Improved parking lot with re-lined parking spaces and new landscaping
- Expanded online grocery pickup area with additional lanes and improved lighting
- Front-end improvements, such as adding self-checkout and manned registers
- The bathroom has been completely renovated with modern amenities and a new mother's room has also been added.
- Item counts increased across multiple departments, including groceries, hardware, health and beauty, household goods, pet supplies, pharmacy and sporting goods.
- The front of the store will feature a new dollar section and “Grab & Go” lunch and deli items.
- The store has updated lighting and signage to make it easier for customers to navigate.
- Installed new shelving and lower fixtures to improve store flow
- Renovated break room for store employees
- We have renovated our vision center and increased our frame options.
- State-of-the-art electronics department with new interactive displays
- Upgraded the deli/bakery area, adding new bakery ovens and refrigerated cases and expanding our selection of deli/bakery items.
- Activated corners: Displayed in a section of a particular department
- Promoted Division: Ready-to-go displays that give shoppers a better view of your products
- Digital touchpoints: New touchpoints will be installed throughout the store to introduce customers to the range of products and services offered online.
- Walmart Pay: You can pay touch-free.
Walmart officials said the work will take several weeks to complete.
