ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Roanoke’s Mill Mountain Zoo has Halloween-themed events scheduled this month.
ZooBoo will be held on Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is the zoo’s annual Halloween celebration aimed at children and the young at heart, with costumes, candy, games and programs. This year there will be special chats about red wolves, zoo owls and why bears hibernate.
Night Howls are from 5:30pm to 7pm on October 19th, November 16th, December 21st, January 18th, February 15th, and March 21st. This is a program where you can learn about nocturnal animals and animals while drinking hot cider and cookies after dark inside the zoo. the sounds they make. Guests then proceed to a private his tour of the outdoor zoo after dark, observing the animals and enjoying views of the night city. Guests must pre-register online or by phone.
Mornings of the Senses will be held on October 25th and November 15th at 9am. This 45-minute program is designed to give people with sensory sensitivities the opportunity to learn without being overstimulated at the zoo. Stations with live animals, biofacts, photos and other tactile interactions will be set up around the zoo, allowing people to take advantage of a different sensorimotor approach at each station. This program is intended for students of all ages and functional levels. Guests must pre-register online or by phone.
