Veterans Gravel Grind Friday Saturday
Local bicycle racing crew ViM Racing will host the Veterans Gravel Grind at Lake Colorado City State Park (an hour from Midland) on Saturday. This event is open to all equestrian enthusiasts, not just veterans, as all proceeds go to the Trail Warrior Project, a non-profit that supports bikepacking for veterans.
Guests can participate in full, half, and quarter grinds (73 miles, 49 miles, and 24 miles, respectively). Veterans and first responders receive half-price registration regardless of distance. On Friday, Energy City Bike (Midland’s newest bike shop) will host two race prep rides at 2 and 4 p.m. The company will be demonstrating a fleet of Diverge STR carbon gravel bikes. Midland University Veterans Day Celebration Saturday
The Permian Warrior Partnership and Midland College will host a Veterans Day celebration Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is designed to honor those who have served and is packed with events that are free for community members of all ages to enjoy.

The West Texas Symphony Orchestra will present a Veterans Day-themed concert for the community Saturday night at the Wagner Noel Performing Arts Center. Copland’s popular Americana repertoire, including John Williams and Gould, can be heard throughout the theater.
