Ghent — “Mastodons, Mohicans and more!” Ghent 12,000 BC to AD 1790” on Saturday, November 4th at 4pm and Sunday November 5th at 2pm at Ghent, Town Hall Place 6 It will be the subject of an illustrated talk by town historian Greg Berninger at the Playhouse.
Berninger vividly recreates the pre-1818 era, before Ghent became Ghent, and answers three questions. What happened to the Mastodons and Mohicans? How did European settlement develop? How common was enslavement in his 18th century before Ghent?
Tickets cost $10 per person. Proceeds will go toward restoring the exterior of the theater, the town’s first town hall.

The history and culture of Stockbridge Munsee’s Mohawk Band is the theme of the webinar
CHATHAM — Learn about the history and culture of the Stockbridge Munsee Band of Mohicans on November 6 at 6 p.m. on Zoom.
Sean Stevens (Red Eagle), a member of the Mohican Band of Stockbridge-Munsee, discusses the history, traditions, and modern culture of the Stockbridge-Munsee.
This presentation is part of the Columbia County Library Association program commemorating Native American Heritage Month.
Stevens is a storyteller, artist, artisan, Native health worker, and musician who specializes in traditional Native American drumming, song, dance, and flute. He is a pastor in the Universal Church of Light and a certified facilitator for White Bison’s Repair of Broken Hearts.

Greene County Department of Human Services holds public hearing.
CATSKILLS — A series of public hearings are scheduled to review and comment on the Greene County Human Services Department’s four-year service plan. The plan sets goals to ensure the needs of the county’s older residents are met.

World War I presentation spotlight on locals
BALLSTON SPA — “Saratoga County Men and Women Who Answered the Call in World War I” will be on display for free at the Brookside Museum in the Saratoga County History Center, 21 Fairground Ave., Nov. 8 from 7 p.m. This will be the theme of the presentation.
Malta Town Historian Paul Perrault will tell the stories of some of the 77 people from the county who died from war wounds or illnesses contracted during their military service. Eight of them were from Waterford. Information about his lectures was gleaned from local records sent to the State Archives.
November 11th marks the 105th anniversary of the Armistice that ended World War I.

Chilly Willie Winter’s Eve Tour ends season at Bronck Museum
COXSACKIE — The Bronk Museum, located at 90 County Road 42, will host seasonal “Chilly Willy Winter’s Eve” tours from Nov. 10 to 12.
This tour gives visitors a taste of life in winters past, long before central heating and artificial lighting became comfortable and convenient. Costumed guides take visitors inside Bronck homes decorated to celebrate the late fall/early winter holidays of Martinmas, St. Nicholas Day, and St. Lucia Day.
The tour will be held on November 10th at 1pm and 3pm. Nov. 11 and 12 at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Tickets cost $10 per person.

Good Books for Good Works fundraiser benefits schools
ALBANY — The Albany Women’s Club and the Book House at Stuyvesant Plaza will host the 18th Annual Good Books for Good Works on Nov. 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Book House at Stuyvesant Plaza. do.
This event supports urban and rural school libraries in the Capital Region by raising funds for new books. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the library at Delaware Community Schools in the Albany City School District. The school serves over 200 of her students, ranging from preschool through fifth grade.
Booksellers will introduce recommended books from all genres, from children to adults.
The project is sponsored by the Women’s Club of Albany, a philanthropic and civic organization founded in 1910.

A lifelong activist, he served as executive director of the Albany Social Justice Center for 11 years.
An open mic will be held for community poets.
