Walmart confirmed changes that will have a “significant impact” on stores across New York state.
After a testing period, the company is making permanent changes.
Sensory Friendly Time Tested at Walmart
In the fall of 2023, Walmart tested ways to make in-store shopping more inclusive for people with sensory disabilities by creating a less-stimulating environment for a few hours every Saturday.

“During the back-to-school season, we changed our TV walls to static images, turned off the radio, and dimmed the lights whenever possible. Feedback from the pilot program was overwhelmingly positive. “It may have seemed small to some, but for others, it has changed the shopping experience,” the company said in a press release.
According to the company, the response was great.

“Our biggest feedback? Keep it coming!” the company added.
Sensory-friendly hours return to Walmart
Sensory-friendly hours have been so successful that the company plans to make this a permanent change.
Walmart stores in New York state, across the United States, and Puerto Rico have sensory-friendly hours between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. daily.
“We hope our stores are a little easier to see and hear during these times for our customers and employees. Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback on how it helped them,” Walmart said. Added.
The change begins Nov. 10, and Walmart has no plans to eliminate sensory-friendly hours.

Walmart changes coupons
Walmart recently confirmed major changes to its coupon policy.
Here’s what Walmart’s emergency color codes mean:
Some of Walmart’s intercom cords involve the use of different colors. Each color is associated with a specific event or situation that occurs within the store.
The severity of these color-coded alerts ranges from relatively severe incidents to potentially serious and life-threatening situations. It is very important for Walmart employees to understand what these codes mean. This understanding allows you to quickly take the necessary safety measures if needed.
We hope you never hear these codes announced at Walmart, but if you do, at least know what they mean and how to act accordingly. You will be able to.
