Investigators say bystanders rushed to save a woman after her estranged husband kidnapped her, raped her and tried to kill her outside the King of Prussia Walmart, stabbing her in the leg.
On Sunday, November 19th at 10:45 a.m., Upper Merion Police responded to the Walmart on North Gulf Road in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania for a report of a man assaulting a woman in the store’s parking lot. Ta.
When officers arrived, they found a woman crying and shaking in the parking lot with visible red marks and blood on her legs. The woman told investigators that after she had shopped at Walmart, she loaded the groceries into her car. As she got into her car, her estranged husband, a man who had an active protection order against her abuse, approached her vehicle, according to investigators. It is said that he witnessed it. When the man opened the driver’s side door, the woman noticed what appeared to be a black handgun and a large metal pick in his hands, according to the criminal complaint.
The 52-year-old man is said to have told his estranged wife: “Move out and I’ll shoot you.” If you don’t go over there, I’ll shoot you. Investigators said the man then stabbed the woman repeatedly in the leg with a metal pick. According to the criminal complaint, the man repeatedly told the woman not to get out of her car and forced him to sit in her passenger seat.
The woman told police she was able to get out of the passenger side of the car and yelled for help as several witnesses came to help. Investigators said her estranged husband then fled the scene.
Officers then responded to the scene and found a man, identified as the victim’s estranged husband, crouched in the back of a pickup truck in a parking lot in the 200 block of North Warner Road near Walmart. Officers said the man had a large metal pick sticking out of his sweatshirt pocket and also had black zip ties shaped like handcuffs. Investigators also said one of the officers found a black duffel bag in the bed of the pickup truck with a black handgun inside.
Investigators also said the suspect was in possession of a green pill bottle containing suspected methamphetamine.
Pursuant to the search warrant, investigators found ID cards identifying the suspect, bank and membership cards, a black “pepper ball” gun with two magazines, two metal drilling tools with wooden handles, black A blindfold, black duct tape, zip ties, a black knife, wire cutters, pliers, scissors, a flashlight, a jar of KY jelly, a plastic hose, an envelope addressed to someone, a black binder with a notebook and handwritten notes, and a “To” A wooden drilling tool with “—-” written on it. —–“ *The name of the victim has not been published to protect the identity of the victim*
According to the criminal complaint, the envelope contained two pages detailing how the suspect had been stalking his estranged wife in the days before Sunday’s attack and how he planned to rape and kill her before committing suicide. It also contained a memo.
Investigators also said they recovered a tracking device from under the victim’s car that the suspect allegedly admitted to installing.
Police said the victim had previously obtained a protection from abuse order against her estranged husband, which took effect on October 5, 2023 and was scheduled to expire on October 4, 2024. confirmed.
Investigators say on Oct. 20, the suspect followed his estranged wife throughout Upper Merion Township and yelled at her at least twice, violating orders. He was subsequently arrested on October 30th, arraigned on October 31st, and released on $5,000 bail.
