CONNECTICUT — Thanksgiving is just days away, and as usual, many retailers in Connecticut have decided to close to give their employees time to spend with their families. This year’s list includes major chains such as Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and Macy’s.
Some chain stores that have been open on Thanksgiving in past years, including Michael’s and Walgreens, have decided to close this year. Most Walgreens stores, except for 24-hour stores, will close as the company faces retail theft, debt issues and competition, not to mention staffing issues, according to Axios.

According to MarketWatch, Chief Customer Officer Tracy Brown said, “We always hear from our team members, who are the face of Walgreens, that time off is a meaningful way to show them they care.” ” he said.
Meanwhile, CVS announced to Axios that stores that are not open 24 hours a day will have reduced hours on holidays. Rite Aid has also shortened business hours at many stores.
Patch has compiled a list of retailers that will not be open on Thanksgiving. As always, we highly recommend calling your local store ahead of time to confirm if they are open.
