The free app is designed to give Mainers easy, fast and secure access to their vaccination records directly on their mobile devices.
MAINE, USA — The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC) has partnered with a new free mobile application, “Docket,” to give Mainers easy access to their vaccination records directly on their mobile devices.
The Maine CDC introduced the new app in response to increased demand for access to vaccination records that were previously handled by mail, Lindsay Hames, spokeswoman for the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, said in a news release Wednesday.
The Maine CDC reports that so far this year, there have been 3,000 requests for vaccination records, with nearly 10,000 between 2020 and 2023. Looking at pre-pandemic numbers, the Maine CDC said it only received 111 requests for vaccination records in 2019.
Once an individual's identity is verified through the app, the docket will use basic demographic information such as name, date of birth and gender to search the Maine Immunization Information System and display the individual's record on their mobile device, according to the announcement.
“Docket can share immunization records with health care providers, be used for school and child care registration, and serve as reminders for vaccinations Mainers need to get,” Maine CDC Director Dr. Putielli Va said in the release. “With school starting, temperatures dropping, and respiratory virus season fast approaching, this new app will make it easier and faster for Mainers to access their up-to-date immunization records when they need them.”
To use the app, people must be 18 or older, although parents or guardians can access vaccine records on behalf of minors in their care. The app is free and can be downloaded from the Apple and Android app stores, according to the release.
The Maine CDC said people who don't have access to a smartphone or mobile device can still use the Docket website to verify their identity and access their vaccination records.
Hard copies of immunization records can still be requested through your provider's office.
