The 8th Annual Main & Mill Brewing Company and Barrelworks Streetfest on Saturday, Oct. 14 at Festus Main Street will feature 10 hours of live music.
The music festival will be held from 1:00 PM to 11:00 PM on Main Street in front of the Brewery Restaurant (240 East Main Street) and in nearby shopping areas. During the event, Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic from Mill Street to Adams Street.
“The overall setup is the same as last year, with two stages,” said Main & Mill business owner and event organizer Denny Foster. “One band plays at a time. One person is preparing on one stage and the other is performing on the other stage.”
Foster said other business owners along Main Street/Crystal City-Bailey Road will participate by opening on Saturdays if they are not normally open or extending their regular Saturday hours. He is said to have expressed his intentions.
“Most businesses downtown will be open,” he said. “They say they will participate.”
In addition to food from downtown restaurants, food trucks will also provide food and other snacks, Foster said.
He said Streetfest has become an established event downtown every October.
“This is our eighth Streetfest,” he said. “We didn’t have one because of the coronavirus, but we had one in the summer and we had an extra year, so this is our eighth one. The turnout was great.”
The Festus Tourism Board and Main & Mill’s new All Terrain Beer are listed as co-sponsors of the event.
“All Terrain Beer will be our new flagship beer brewed for Jefferson County,” Foster said.
He said the day would be filled with fun performers.
The music artists scheduled to perform are as follows.
■1:00pm to 2:00pm, Meyer’s music lesson.
“It’s like ‘School of Rock’ (the 2003 movie starring Jack Black),” Foster said. “The kids are going to play. They’re going to play rock music. They’re students in Meyer’s music lessons.”
■2-3 p.m., Festus High School Jazz Band.
■3-4 p.m., Meetus.
“They are from the Festus area,” he said. “They have original rock music.”
■4 to 5 p.m., Janatrix.
“They play a variety of rock, their own rock and covers,” he said of the St. Louis band.
■5pm-6pm Blonde Master.
“This is an alternative style rock group from St. Louis,” Foster said.
■6pm-7pm, Vertex Shrine.
“They’re really great guitarists,” he said. “They say it’s groovy rock and roll.”

“It’s a Kansas City group,” Foster said. “They play their own music and classic rock.”
