Easthampton Longhouse Preserve is offering a full schedule of fall events and will be open five days a week through December 31st. The whole family can enjoy weekly programs, current and permanent artwork exhibits, craft and production projects, and leaves peeking out as 16 acres of trees unfold their annual fall foliage festival.
Experience the power of plants and art at dusk with extended Longhouse hours until 7pm on Thursday nights through November. There are special programs every week, including poetry and music on October 19th and a special evening in honor of Día de los Muertos on November 2nd, with sculptures by Oscar Molina and his Immigration series. Celebrate your ancestors.
Fall Foraging allows visitors to touch and collect leaves, pine cones, and acorns to create a community meditation circle made of natural plant materials. The longhouse provides baskets to collect fallen leaves during your walk.
Halloween weekend begins with the annual party of costumed dogs on October 28th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Bring your furry friend to the longhouse, dress up in a Halloween costume, and enjoy snacks and playtime on the expansive lawn. . This is a collaboration with ARF.
Longhouse Lighting will be held again on Friday and Saturday nights on the 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, 15th, and 16th of December. Visit the longhouse after dark and stroll the garden paths lined with lights and glowing sculptures. Neopolitical His Cowgirl plays Zima as a woodland creature as she roams the grounds. Warm up at the Pavilion’s Holiday Market, featuring festive music, food, drinks, and art and jewelry from local artists.
In partnership with the Public Art Fund, we visited Wyatt Kahn’s three Corten steel sculptures – Parade, Painter and Umbrella – as part of Life in Abstracts, Daniel Arsham’s bronze eroded Venus de Milo, and Stephen and William Rudd’s Check out Right Here Right Now and the work of Maren Hassinger. Monuments 3 and 6 are woven from branches within the site.
Member Mornings are held every Saturday from 10am to 12pm before the Longhouse opens to the public. Come early to enjoy gentle yoga and meditation by Jason Amis, children’s arts and crafts by Shine Studio, and stroll through the gardens before visitors arrive.
