IDAHO FALLS — The Eastern Idaho Art Museum (TAM) this week announced the appointment of a new executive director and director of education.
Alexa Stanger, who previously served as the museum’s director of education, has been appointed executive director. She has worked at the museum for almost 20 years.
“Mr. Stanger has served as TAM’s director of education for nearly 20 years and has been instrumental in making our outreach and education programs what they are today,” the museum board said in a news release. “We look forward to watching Stanger expand his skillset and take the museum to new heights.”
Stanger’s first goal is to secure funding and begin construction on the museum’s new education building. The expansion will include five classrooms, a printmaking and ceramics studio, a workshop space with a patio, and an expanded children’s art room, among other things.
TAM also hired a new director of education to fill Stanger’s vacancy. Emily Wunderlich has been hired for the position.
“Mr. Wunderlich has a very extensive educational background and experience in the museum industry,” the news release said. “Her past successes include building a strong instructor program as well as enhancing her educational programs and outreach opportunities.”
Wunderlich holds a master’s degree in museum studies and an undergraduate degree in art education. She has already secured her two new contract educators to her TAM, and she brings great ideas and enthusiasm to the position.
The Board of Directors said: “We are very proud to welcome such passionate, efficient and experienced individuals to TAM.”
