The newly renovated Walmart store #1186, located in the heart of Liberty, Texas, held its grand reopening Friday to showcase some of the more than $6 million in improvements that Walmart Corporation has invested in the store. I did. This renovation will provide local residents with an advanced shopping experience. Walmart Store Manager Barry Jones led the grand opening event on Friday, Nov. 3, recognizing the construction team’s tireless efforts and receiving cheers and applause from dozens of attendees.
The conversion was both a challenge and a success, as the completion date was severely constrained by tight deadlines. As Jones said in his speech, “The process to get here has been difficult. So many things have gone wrong, but so many things have gone right. Anyone who saw this store a day earlier would say, ‘How on earth do they prepare that store?’
Jones, some of whom have been with Walmart for 20 to 30 years, praised the construction team and Walmart’s market team for getting the project through to the finish line. There are still some decorative projects left to complete, including some painting, but contractors have been busy with these tasks even though the grand reopening is taking place.
Improvements include:
- Additional self-checkout
- Expanded online grocery section of stores and introduced unique refrigeration system
- We will upgrade to WIFI internet system so that our customers can enjoy a better shopping experience
- new technology and equipment
- The area in front of the grocery store. Find sandwiches, salads, cold deli items, snacks and drinks for easy lunch or dinner purchases.
- new sign
- Extensive selection of wine and food
Of all the improvements, Jones said he is most proud of the store’s new backup generator.
“So when a disaster strikes, Walmart can continue to serve our communities. This is a multi-million dollar investment in making our customers’ shopping experience the best it can be.” Told.
Liberty Walmart stores are vital cogs in the community, providing dozens of jobs and significant sales tax revenue to the city, and Liberty Mayor Carl Pickett echoed this sentiment when speaking at the event. expressed.
“It’s clear that Walmart is a major contributor to City of Liberty’s bottom line, and we’re grateful to them. We shouldn’t get too hung up on hard dollars, but they’re very important to the local economy and to the Liberty government.” “It’s clearly important. They rely on many of our services, including electricity, water, sewer, and trash, and we appreciate having a strong membership, both financially and otherwise,” Pickett said. The mayor said, calling Walmart a “good corporate citizen.”
Although the city of Dayton does not share the sales tax benefits of Walmart stores, the Liberty Walmart store is only 6 miles from Dayton, and many Dayton residents shop there, so it is comprehensive in Dayton. I was hoping it would be. City of Dayton employees were invited to participate in the celebration.
“The City of Dayton truly appreciates the services Walmart provides to our residents and the local economy, and we would like to express our gratitude and support,” Dayton Mayor Martin Mudd said in his remarks at the grand reopening. Thank you for accepting me.” ”
Walmart paid homage to the strong bond that exists between Liberty and Dayton with a mural that greets customers on the grocery side of the store. Located just inside the entrance, it features paintings of the Liberty County Courthouse, the old railroad trestle bridge, the Dayton Water Tower, the Liberty Bell, bluebonnets, and longhorn bulls.
The gala was also an opportunity for Liberty Walmart to distribute donations to local organizations. They are in the photo below.
