The Synergy Company turned to Silver Turner, a senior at Grand County High School, for the company’s focus on sustainability and overall identity in the community. He is pursuing a career in business and is a member of his DECA, a career and technical education club focused on leadership and entrepreneurship.
Silver is a member of the National Honor Society, plays soccer and runs cross country. Outside of school, he is interested in film production and works at a local clothing store, ar-tee-sian.
GCHS brings a new group of students into the community each quarter through a work-based learning program. These students become radiologists, teachers, journalists, and more in seven weeks. Through this program, interns start thinking about what they want to do after school and learn endless information about their field. As a Sun News intern this quarter, I followed new students each week to get a feel for their experiences.
Silver has been working with Pure Synergy’s sourcing team, which handles product purchasing and sales.
He works with them to create quarterly business reports (QBRs) that track who the company buys and sells from, the volume of product, and costs.
“So far, I’ve made a list of the top 25 companies they work with, and I’m currently working on another list,” he said.
His daily life is pretty much the same, sitting at his computer and filling out these reports.
Synergy’s mission is to “nourish and enhance your life experience.” They manufacture many nutritional supplements using organic ingredients.
Silver said the company makes a variety of health food supplements, including general multivitamins for men and women, as well as capsules for bone, eye and heart health. By using natural ingredients, you can target specific areas of your body and even your mental health.
The company was founded in 1992 by Mitchell May. Since then, it has grown to supply products across the state in an easily accessible online store and can be found in stores around town such as Moonflower His Market. We also often sponsor local events to showcase and grow our business.
Silver hopes to earn a business degree after high school. He hopes the field will be versatile enough to serve as a stepping stone to a variety of careers, as he’s not sure exactly what he wants to do after college. Meanwhile, he is exploring the world and what it has to offer.
