why are you running? I am a strong public schools advocate and believe Lakewood City Schools is on a very positive trajectory. District superintendents and treasurers (who report directly to the board) are great leaders. The district’s financial position is strong. The Ranger Vision, which includes core competencies identified by the community, serves as our guide. Our administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, and staff all put children first. I look forward to leveraging my experience as a collaborative member of this board in the next term to continue moving the district forward while addressing today’s challenges.

why are you running? As the mother of two Lakewood alumni, I have a heartfelt goal of making the vision of Lakewood alumni a reality while improving opportunities for today’s students as well as future generations. I am prepared to serve as an active board member to ensure that we are ahead of the challenges that future graduates will face. A well-rounded elementary school education that includes curriculum, arts, athletics, and emotional support can only be achieved by faculty and administrative staff that are well-trained and supported to support students in multiple ways.

why are you running? I am a teacher, parent of currently enrolled students, and lifelong Lakewood resident. In addition to preserving what makes Lakewood Schools great, such as a culturally responsive curriculum and emphasis on social-emotional learning, it is also important to improve in areas of need, such as community recreation and the education department. For many, this is our family’s first exposure to the area. Many young families begin building relationships with other families and schools through these programs. By seeking community feedback on additional programs, we will engage families, build relationships, and maintain enrollment in Lakewood City Schools.

why are you running? Save art! I am running to reverse the recent 60% cut in music and 50% cut in PE so that Arts, STEM, Music, PE and Digital Literacy can all achieve his 40 minutes once a week. I am. Extending the school day (the shortest in Cuyahoga County) by 40 minutes could restore music, restore physical education, and increase art and his STEM to 100 minutes a week. I agree with the Lakewood alumni vision: collaboration, critical and creative thinking, empathy, communication, global thinking, and a growth mindset. Each is located within the music, physical education, and art programs.

why are you running? I passionately believe that public education has the power to transform lives. I believe there needs to be greater representation of parents of young children on the board because the decisions the board makes now will impact my child’s education for years to come. He also brings nearly 15 years of experience working with K-12 education systems in research, policy, strategic planning, human resources, finance, and community engagement. I believe our Board needs the kind of professional expertise I bring as we navigate the rapidly evolving education and education policy landscape.
