SAN DIEGO — A man was stabbed multiple times and seriously injured Friday outside a Walmart in the Ocean Crest neighborhood, authorities said.
San Diego Police say a 35-year-old man was standing outside a grocery store at 710 Dennery Road. Around 11:07 p.m., four unknown men approached her.
A physical altercation ensued, and one of the suspects, later identified as 27-year-old Joshua Sanchez, allegedly stabbed the victim in the back five times with a pocket knife, authorities said. The suspects then got into multiple vehicles and left the scene.
The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital. His injuries were determined not to be life-threatening.
A description of the vehicle was provided to police by a witness. An SDPD helicopter located the vehicle shortly thereafter, and ground forces conducted a traffic stop.
Police said the individuals were taken into custody without incident.
Detectives from the Southern District rushed to the scene and conducted an investigation. Police said during the investigation they identified Sanchez as a suspect. He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
No other arrests have been made at this time.
