(WLUK) — Thanksgiving parades are a tradition across the country, but a parade in northeastern Wisconsin that isn’t often seen on TV is named one of the nation’s “most beloved Thanksgiving events,” according to a recent survey. Was chosen.
Door County’s Jacksonport Thanksgiving Parade came in at No. 58 on the list of America’s top 80 Thanksgiving traditions. Mixbook surveyed 3,000 Americans to create this list.
Mixbook writes:
Located along Lake Michigan, this parade draws both residents and visitors to celebrate the holiday in typical Midwestern style. Spectators lining the parade route are treated to a joyful procession of creatively decorated floats, local school bands, and community organizations marching proudly. This parade is characterized by a cozy and friendly atmosphere where everyone feels like a neighbor. Jacksonport’s Thanksgiving Parade often features Santa Claus, marking the official start of the holiday season and bringing joy to children and families. The parade is usually followed by a community gathering where participants can warm up with hot cocoa and sample seasonal treats.
This year’s Jacksonport Parade will be held for the 27th time. Marchers will line up at 9:30 a.m. and the parade will depart at 10:30 a.m.
The only other Wisconsin tradition on the list is the Milwaukee Turkey Trot.
Just west of the Badger State, Black Friday shopping at Mall of America in Minnesota came in at No. 5.
