Apple is reportedly making significant changes to its default app settings and downloads, and according to a Tech Radar report, the tech giant has been forced to implement these changes due to new guidelines in the European Union's Digital Markets Act (DMA).

Apple recently announced that users will now be able to change the default email and browsing applications on their iPhones, a new feature that will be rolled out first in Europe and soon to other parts of the world.

As per reports, iPad and iOS users may also get the option to set default apps for tasks like messaging, keyboard, password manager, etc. This new development may allow users to remove pre-installed apps like Safari, Photos, Camera, Messages, App Store, etc. from their iPhones and iPads. It is speculated that iOS users will be able to remove all other apps except for the Settings app.

New Browser Selection Option
Apple is reportedly releasing a new update that will allow users in the European Union to set their default browser. This new feature is likely to introduce all browser options previously available to users. The company is believed to allow users to explore all browser options. Apple may also reveal additional information about third-party browsers to all iOS users that it did not reveal in the previously released browser selection version.

New Customizations
Separately, another tech publication, Android Authority, reports that Apple is likely to release a new set of customization features for iPhones in 2025. This could include customizations for navigation and translation apps. However, these upcoming updates, like the integration of a USB Type-C charging port, are likely to be released in the EU region first.
