Walmart is cracking down, and some Iowa shoppers may not be thrilled the next time they visit a supercenter. This won’t affect everyone who shops at Walmart, but those looking to save a little money may be in for a pretty rude awakening in the checkout line. This is the first time in six years that Walmart has adjusted its policies regarding who uses them.
This change is pretty significant, and we can only imagine what kind of interactions Walmart employees will have in the coming months until shoppers are aware and understand these new policies. The worst part is that everything is now so expensive due to inflation that shoppers have to adjust how they use coupons to save a little money.
Walmart has made some adjustments to its coupon policy for the first time since 2017.
You can find all about Walmart’s coupon policies in their entirety on the Walmart corporate website, but I want to highlight a few policies that you’ll immediately notice if you’re a coupon user.
According to the updated policy
- Walmart will no longer offer cashback and if the value of the coupon is greater than the value of the item, the excess fee will not be applied to the remaining items.
- Walmart will no longer accept digital coupons Also called coupon from mobile phone
- Walmart will now only allow one paper coupon per item for in-store purchases
- Under no circumstances can shoppers use expired coupons.
- A maximum of 4 coupons can be used per household per day.
- Shoppers can no longer stack coupons on a single item
- Coupon description must match the product on which the coupon is used
Walmart managers are at the root of all of these changes, and the more I learn about them, the more I start to feel sorry for them. When you have to tell someone you don’t want to receive a coupon…you can only imagine how shoppers take this news. Wow!
Override coupon
Walmart managers had the option to disable the scanner/software if they did not accept the coupon. Walmart managers may allow you to use coupons if you wish. Now there are no overrides. Walmart’s software update removed the ability to override the system. If your scanner doesn’t accept your coupon, it’s better to throw it in the trash.
According to Walmart Corporate
To help you save money and live a better life, we gladly accept valid paper manufacturer coupons from manufacturers of products sold by Walmart. These paper manufacturer coupons must be scanned at the register and must not expire according to the following guidelines:
