Days after TikTok announced a new feature for developers called “Direct Post” that makes it easy for third-party apps to publish videos to its platform, Meta announced that its own Sharing to Reels widget for mobile apps is now available. announced that it is now available to all developers. Similar to TikTok’s Direct Post, the idea of Sharing to Reels is to leverage the video editing app’s broader community to generate more content for Meta’s short-form video platform and TikTok’s competitors. .
The Sharing to Reels integration launched in limited alpha testing last November with a variety of app makers as partners, including Lightricks (Videoleap), Reface, Smule, VivaVideo, SNOW, B612, VITA, and Zoomerang. The company said at the time that it planned to expand testing to more partners in 2023, but did not provide a specific date.
Currently, Share to Reels opens up access to apps that want to offer integrations that allow users to quickly export videos to Instagram Reels with the tap of a button. Previously, users had to export a video from a third-party app to their device and reupload it to Instagram Reels.
To use this feature, users first create and edit a video in a third-party app, tap the share button when done, and then tap the Instagram Reels icon. This allows you to go to your Instagram camera and continue customizing your Reels with audio, effects, narration, and stickers. You can also record or upload additional clips to add to your existing video. To complete the upload process, users tap Next, enter a caption, hashtag, location, or tag others, then tap Share to make it public.
According to Meta, early testers at Smule saw a 150% increase in shared content and organic traffic after implementing the feature, but the company does not share similar metrics with other alpha testing partners. did. However, promoting the convenience and time-saving nature of this feature, users can export Reels on his Instagram[リール]tab and[探索]It said it will be visible through public recommendations on the tab, giving it wider exposure. Additionally, Mehta pointed out that users can also share content through Stories and direct messages.
The company offers a similar integration for sharing videos directly from third-party apps to Facebook Reels, which was also announced last year.
However, Meta did not announce that additional partners will be on board with this expanded availability. This only provides access to interested developers.
However, in the case of TikTok’s Direct Post, the company has partnered with several well-known apps, including apps that support AI editing such as Adobe’s AI-powered video editing software Premiere Pro and its AI creative app Adobe Express. Ta. Other direct post partners include Twitch, SocialPilot, ByteDance’s CapCut, and more.
