We recently purchased a mattress that we plan to use temporarily for a few months as most of our furniture is in storage until a remodeling project is completed. I didn’t want to spend too much on this mattress because even if I were to use it, it would be relegated to the guest room after I put the furniture back in place.
We decided to purchase a memory foam mattress from Walmart and paid $278.99 for a king size. This was a fraction of the cost of a regular Tempur-Pedic mattress that costs thousands of dollars.
I slept on a cheap mattress for a while, so I’ll compare it.
both are equally comfortable
First and most importantly, my husband and I found both mattresses equally comfortable. Both offer similar levels of firmness and support. And I don’t feel the other moving around in either bed. In fact, if you are forced to choose between the two, the comfort factor alone will not make your choice.
Both come with the same warranty
Tempur-Pedic mattresses come with a 10-year warranty. I did not expect to be offered this same warranty since the price of the new bed was much lower. But we were wrong.new, cheap mattresses Also Backed by a 10-year warranty and 30-day refund policy, you can rest assured.
Both have multiple layers
Our Tempur-Pedic comes with several different material layers, including a top comfort layer, a middle support layer, and a base layer. Each of these layers is thought to serve a purpose, such as distributing weight evenly along the mattress and distributing heat.
Our cheap mattresses actually come with one. more A layer called “Five Comfortable Floors”. There is a breathable fabric on the top, a second layer to avoid heat, two independent support layers, and a non-slip layer on the bottom.
i haven’t that’s right I’m sure all of these layers serve their exact purpose, but I found that neither bed made me sleep warmer, and neither felt like they offered adequate support. The anti-slip layer on cheaper mattresses also seems to help the mattress stay in place on the box spring.
Tempurpedic is heavier and feels more solid.
Tempur-Pedic stands out for its heavier feel. Cheaper mattresses were vacuum packed in small packages and took a long time to fluff up. And it doesn’t weigh the same as a Tempurpedic mattress.
However, while this is an advantage for the Tempur-Pedic as it seems like it will last longer, it also means that the Tempur-Pedic is more of a pain to move around.
In the end, I feel like I should have bought a cheaper mattress. It leaves more money in your bank account than the Tempur-Pedic and offers the same level of comfort and the same warranty.
Experience has shown that buying a more expensive bed is not always the best option. So before you commit to a credit card, be sure to research and thoroughly compare different mattresses to find the one that feels the best at a fair price. Go to some stores and try them out. Don’t be so quick to ignore a mattress just because it’s cheap, because you might not be able to get a comfortable mattress at a deep discount. Also, don’t forget to consider return policies and warranties to ensure you are satisfied with your purchase in the long run.
