The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a warning to the public regarding unauthorised websites and mobile applications linked to Livi Bank Limited. This announcement follows a press release from Livi Bank reporting these fraudulent activities to the HKMA.
Alert Details
According to the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, these unauthorized platforms are designed to trick users into providing their personal information. The authority stressed that legitimate banks will not send SMS or emails with embedded hyperlinks directing customers to their websites for transactions. In addition, banks will never request login passwords, one-time passwords (OTPs) or other sensitive information over the phone, email or SMS.
Public Advice
The Hong Kong Monetary Authority advises that anyone who has used these fraudulent sites or apps should immediately contact Livi Bank using the contact details provided in the official press release. Additionally, victims should report the incident to the Hong Kong Police's Crime Information Centre on 2860 5012.
