The City of Taylorsville, Alexander County government, local businesses and individuals are working together to bring a warm hometown Christmas back to downtown. A series of Christmas events are scheduled from Thursday until December 21st, as listed below.
Music and entertainment are planned for each date listed, as well as food truck stalls along Courthouse Square or in the municipal parking lot next to the old 1913 Jail. Movies will be shown to music at Alexander County Courthouse Park. Santa Claus is waiting for children visiting the park. Free carriage rides by Carolina Carriage Co. will be held nightly (note: reservations are required. Sign up at https://2023hometownchristmas.eventbrite.com/).

• Dec. 7: Voices of Joy will sing at Courthouse Park at 6 p.m. The movie “Elf” continues.
• Dec. 14: ACHS Jazz Band will perform at Courthouse Park at 6 p.m. The movie “Home Alone” will also follow. The cruise-in and food drive will be held next to the old 1913 Jail, with proceeds going to the Christian Crisis Center.
• Dec. 21: Studio3 School of Music will perform carols outside the Old Methodist Church, 54 East Main Avenue, at 7 p.m. The movie “Polar Express” will then be shown at Alexander County Courthouse Park.
