Many local holiday events will be held this week. Here we will introduce some of them.
henry manor
Holidays at the Henry will be held at Henry Manor, 1755 Cedar Hill Road, on December 9th from noon to 6 p.m. Henley was completely renovated this year. Please come and have a look. The Henley will host a mini artisan market, free hot cocoa bar and photo ops with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Photos can be purchased in advance through the Facebook event or in person on the day.
The Henley is an estate wedding venue with character and charm, set in beautiful countryside, just 5 minutes from Lancaster’s vibrant downtown, where you’ll find plenty of choice in hotels, shops and fine dining. Henry Manor was built in his 1869 year and still retains all of its original charm. Henry features a beautiful park-like setting, mature trees, and an abundance of flowers of all kinds, all located along Ohio 188 near downtown Lancaster.
Lithopolis hosts Simply Christmas
Shop owners and organizations in Lithopolis are preparing for Simply Christmas, which will be held in Lithopolis on December 8th and 9th.
A holiday market will be held at Wagnalls Memorial, 122 West Columbus Street, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The following events will be held on the day:
- Believers Bible Church, free gift wrapping
- Friends of the Library, used book sales
- Luke Pruitt, Iron
- Jake and Jean Thiebaud, wood, stained glass
- Lang Weil Studio, Ceramics
- Carolyn Sitler, Felt and Collectible Art
- Deb Waite, paper art
- Dawn Martinez, 3D printed toys
- Ohio Glass Museum
- Not Your Kup of Tee, various gift items
Also done in Wagners:
- Santa will visit Wagnalls from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Basket raffle as a library fundraiser. The lottery will be held on December 9th at 4pm. Tickets are $2 each or $5 for three.
- Pajama story time at the children’s library at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
- Craft experience at the children’s library for elementary school students (afternoon)
- 88-key recitals from 11 a.m. to noon in the Rager Reading Room and from noon to 1 p.m. in the auditorium
- Free Family Photoshoot with Amy Todd 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Virtual Reality Demonstration in the Loft 1-3 p.m.

Lancaster Parks and Recreation will be hosting a Winterlights event at Alley Park for four nights only, December 7, 8, 9, and 10, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Parking for this free event is in the field across from the park. Pack up and walk back down the trail to Goslin Nature Center. See thousands of lights decorating the park, listen to festive music, smell the bonfires, enjoy hot chocolate while grilling hot dogs in the concession stand tent, or stroll along the nature center deck to enjoy nature’s Receiving grace is a real experience. Catch a glimpse of a vibrant snow globe. Visitors are encouraged to hike around the lake on Sunday evening while ATARA volunteers monitor the trail to keep people safe. Ohio Valley Kettle Corn will have a special peppermint flavored corn every night.

Fairfield County Heritage Association Candlelight Tour
Join the Fairfield County Cultural Heritage Association’s annual Candlelight Tour. This tour will take you through six of his historic churches in downtown Lancaster on Dec. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. Enjoy musical performances at each church.
The church includes:
- First United Methodist Church
- First Presbyterian Church
- Emmanuel Lutheran Church
- St. Peter Lutheran Church
- First English Lutheran Church
- St. Mary’s Cathedral
You can choose to start with First United Methodist or First Presbyterian. The order of the tours is different, but everyone will have a finale at St. He Mary. This is a walking tour, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Limited shuttle service is available. Tickets can be purchased online.
festival of lights
The Fairfield County Fairgrounds Festival of Lights runs from Thanksgiving through Christmas (Sunday through Wednesday, 6-9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, 6-10 p.m.). Visits from Santa, kettle corn, desserts and concessions will be featured throughout the season.
