Dietary experts say high fructose corn syrup is as healthy as honey.

High fructose corn syrup is very common in popular foods because it is incredibly sweet in small quantities and is cost effective for food manufacturers.
High fructose corn syrup, also known as HFCS, is a sugar or sweetener and is technically a type of carbohydrate, Dr. Gunter explained on his blog.
This product is primarily made from a type of sugar called glucose. However, to make it sweeter and closer in taste to regular sugar, some of that glucose is converted to fructose, or fruit sugar, using enzymes.
Different types of high fructose corn syrup contain different percentages of fructose.
However, research shows that this process produces only small differences in the proportions of different types of sugar.
For example, when added to soda, it contains about 55 percent fructose.
In jam products, fructose is 42 percent. In contrast, table sugar is 50 percent fructose and honey is 49 percent, so it’s not much of a difference.
But HFCS contains the same amount of fructose as honey, so why is it being demonized, Dr Gunter asks?
Scientists have previously debunked the theory that fructose damages the liver.
