Perry’s annual Spooktacular Downtown Trick-or-Treat Walk returns as a safe opportunity to pick up sweet treats from local businesses and organizations. Additionally, Dallas County Hospital’s Safe and Healthy Halloween will return to an indoor format. Various trunk or treat events will feature free fun for families, and Fifth Her Quarter She Bar & Grill will host trunk or drink events for adults. Children dress up in costumes and go door-to-door in towns throughout Dallas County during each town’s official Trick-or-Treat or Beggar’s Night.

- Walkie Halloween Open House: Thursday, Oct. 26 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Waukee Public Safety Building. Fill bags of candy, explore the fire truck, and say hello to Waukee police officers and firefighters at the Public Safety Building. Enjoy a friendly Halloween with the whole family. Costuming is recommended but not required.
- Trunk or Treat: Thursday, Oct. 26 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Dallas County Fairgrounds. The Minburn 4-H Club Trunk-or-Treat will feature games and activities, face painting, a photo booth, raffle his basket and more. Dallas County businesses and vendors are invited to participate and can sign up at go.iastate.edu/OXM2GQ.
- Spooky Downtown Trick-or-Treat Walk: Friday, Oct. 27, in Downtown Perry from 4 to 6 p.m. The event, hosted by the Perry Chamber of Commerce, will include safe trick-or-treating with local businesses and community organizations. Willis Avenue (1st to 3rd) and 2nd (Otley to Pattee) will be closed to vehicular traffic during the event. Parking is available in the city parking lot (near Qaboos Park and the Post Office) and on side streets. Participants must enter at intersections, drive on the right and follow designated one-way routes through the downtown area. Businesses and organizations, as well as those located downtown, are encouraged to participate. - Safe and Healthy Halloween: Friday, Oct. 27, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at Dallas County Hospital in Perry. A Safe and Healthy Halloween at Dallas County Hospital will return to an indoor format with families entering through the north entrance, guided to various giveaway stations, and finally exiting through another door that also faces the north parking lot. Masu. Children will receive healthy snacks and trinkets, while adults will receive a limited number of water bottles to encourage them to stay hydrated. The event is free to attend while supplies last.
- Safe trick-or-treating: Friday, Oct. 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Aspire of Perry Nursing Home.
- Trick or Treat Bash: Friday, Oct. 27, at Granger Nursing and Rehabilitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Join residents for trick-or-treating and hot chocolate in the front parking lot of Granger Nursing and Rehabilitation. Events are open to the community.
- Candy parade: Friday, Oct. 27, at Perry Lutheran Homes from 6 to 7 p.m. Children and families are invited to the Perry Lutheran Homes Candy Her Parade. Residents will be handing out sweet treats at the Kings Gardens and Eden Acres campuses. We recommend costumes for children.
- Pumpkin festival: Friday, Oct. 27, from 6 to 9 p.m., at Crossroads Church in Perry. The second annual Pumpkin Festival features candy, games and activities for kids of all ages. The event will be held outdoors on the Crossroads Lawn, but will be moved indoors in case of rain.
- Trick or Treat at Hy-Vee: It will be held at Perry Hy-Vee on Saturday, October 28th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stop by with your kids for some delicious snacks.
- Community Halloween Party: Saturday, October 28th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Little Bridge Park. Join De Soto Public Library and Fire Department for a bonfire, hot dog roast, costume contest, games, crafts, and prizes. All ages are welcome. Participate in the costume contest wearing your best costume.
- Halloween Heyday Parade: Saturday, October 28th at 3pm at the Dallas Center. The Dallas Center Seasonal Fun Committee will host the Halloween Hayday Parade starting from Mound Park at 3 p.m. The event features a Chili Dog freewill donation at the fire station from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., a DC Betterment Foundation Pumpkin Walk (Heritage Park along Walnut Street) from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., a spooky There will also be golf and photo shoots. It will be held at the DC Library from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Trick-or-treating in the city continues from 6 to 8 p.m.
- Bouton Trunk or Treat: It will be held on Saturday, October 28th from 5:00pm to 6:30pm at the Haunted Church on South Street in Bouton.
- Woodward Trunk or Treat: Saturday, Oct. 28, at the High Trestle Trailhead parking lot from 5 to 7 p.m. The annual Trunk or Treat event features trunks, treats and more on display in a new location.
- Granger Trunk or Treat: Sunday, October 29th from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM in the EMC Church Parking Lot and from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the Assumption Church Parking Lot.
- Redfield Halloween: Saturday, October 29th from 3pm to 5pm at Redfield City Park. The Halloween event will feature hot chocolate, s’mores, inflatables, games, and trunk-his-or-him treats.Trick-or-treating in the city will take place from 5 to 7 p.m.
- Halloween party: Sunday, October 29th, 4-5pm at Adele Acres. Residents hand out candy and vote for their favorite costume. The grand prize will be given to one person.
- Van Meter United Methodist Church Trunk or Treat: Sunday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Van Meter United Methodist Church. The annual “Trunk or Treat” event features decorated trunks, candy, bounce houses, crafts, games, music, homemade donuts and cider, and more. This free, family-friendly event is open to all.
- trunk or drink: Saturday, October 29th from 7pm to 9pm at 5th Quarter Bar & Grill in Van Meter. The fifth quarter will host his second Trunk or Drink, his 21+ event that requires both contestants and participants. Contestants (age 21 and older) will submit a trunk theme and secret drink recipe to her 5Q. The trunk will be set up on a grassy field, and 5Q will provide drinks and supplies for attendees to sample and vote for their favorites. Winning trunks will not only receive bragging rights, but will also receive drinks during the fifth quarter of the rest of the night. Registration is open until October 24th and costs $30. Attendees (ages 21 and older) will tour all the trunks, sample secret drinks, and vote for their favorites. Admission to the sample and vote is $10 per person. Funds raised at this event will be used to support community development projects by VMCDC.
- Minburn Trunk or Treat: Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Baker Street in downtown Minburn. Minburn Public Library invites community members to participate in Trunk or Treat Her. Setup begins at 5 p.m. Trunk decoration is recommended but not required. The trunk with the most votes will receive a prize. Hot dogs will be provided to the fire department, chips and bottles of water to the library, and s’mores to the corps. This event is in addition to traditional trick-or-treating.
- Star Wars Fall Festival: Tuesday, October 31st from 6 to 8 p.m. at Van Meter Baptist Church. Van Meter Baptist Church invites the community to its Star Wars Fall Festival. The event will feature fun games and refreshments.
