“My closet is still full of UH gear,” Everett told KHON2 Sports Director Rob DeMello. “UH is the bell cow of the 808, to get a chance to go home and be a part of that team. We’re a team like a college basketball team. We’re the Cal State football team right now with a near win over San Diego State and especially the team against Maui. Because Maui needs us as a team more than anyone right now. ”
Mr Bale added: “It’s interesting that people, especially people on the mainland, are surprised by this because I think I’ve covered five Super Bowls, five World Series, 10 championship parades and everything else. But one thing I live for is Daiwis is a UH sport. I could talk to Joe Montana or Steve Young, but I’m more interested in what Elan Ganot is doing this week. In that regard. It’s kind of funny. But this is my school, so I want to help as much as I can.”
Tickets for Thursday’s event are available on the Tipoff website.
And on Friday, the Rainbow Warriors are scheduled to host St. Mary’s in the Outrigger Charity Invitational, which begins at 7 p.m. General admission tickets cost $20 for adults and $10 for youth under high school age, with net proceeds going to Maui Relief.
