HARRISVILLE, Weber County — A Walmart employee was seriously injured after being hit by a car Thursday in Weber County.
Shortly before noon, the Northview Fire District received a report of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle at the Harrisville Walmart, located at 534 N. Harrisville Walmart. When emergency services arrived, the woman was found trapped under a car.
Assistant Police Chief Dennis Moore said Walmart employees were cleaning the fuel tank access point next to the fuel pumps. She was wearing a yellow safety vest, which may make it difficult for her to see when she is squatting while cleaning, he added.
Moore said the driver had just finished filling up the car with gas and was about to drive away when he made a sharp right turn and hit the employee.
Firefighters pulled the woman from under the car and began CPR. The woman was taken to the hospital with traumatic cardiac arrest, but her condition has since been stabilized, Moore said.
The driver remained at the scene after the accident and was cooperating with investigators.
Harrisville police said the Walmart is closed and will reopen Friday.
