Halloween is almost here, and there are plenty of events lined up across South Florida.
Whether it’s a night out with friends or fun for the whole family, NBC6 has compiled a list of Halloween weekend highlights.
There are several events that encourage haunted houses and costumes.
Nightmare Village
Fort Lauderdale’s Extreme Action Park is introducing two new haunted houses in Nightmare Village.
Guests visit the Seventh Gate and the Carnival of Carnage, where they encounter creepy strangers such as killer clowns and zombies.
While adults enjoy the scarier spots, kids can visit the haunted house only on Saturday, October 28, as Extreme Action Park will temporarily transform the haunted house into a children’s attraction from noon to 3 p.m. I can.
The experience is suitable for ages 6 and up, according to Extreme Action Park.
Passes can be purchased on the website.
Zooboo
Zoo Miami will host Zoo Boo on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Families with children 12 and under will enjoy activities such as trick-or-treating, costume contests, special character encounters, and Halloween craft workshops.
Zoo Miami says visitors will also get a chance to watch wild animals celebrate their own version of Halloween.
Tickets start at $22.95 for ages 13 and older and $18.95 for children ages 3 to 12.

The Wharf Fort Lauderdale will host a costume party called “Pirates of the Wharf” on Saturday, October 28th.
According to The Wharf FTL, the event will begin at noon and run until late into the evening.
A costume contest will also be held, with the winner receiving a $500 bar tab.
howl o ween porty
Those looking for a Halloween gathering for their four-legged friends can also be accommodated at the Pier.
Howl-O-Ween Porty will be at the Wharf on Sunday, October 29th. You can bring your furry friend to the festival’s dog meet-up.
There will be a pet costume contest starting at 3 p.m., and the winner will receive a mojito pitcher.
The Wharf said the event will include pop-up vendors and raffles and will run until late into the night.

Miami Spookysburg: Goosebump-inducing Halloween Market
Smorgasburg Miami transforms into Spookysburg Miami on the weekends with Goosebumps Halloween Market from 1pm to 9pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Smorgasburg’s Wynwood store, located at 2600 2nd Avenue Northwest, will have specials on pottery, face painting and spooky vendors throughout the weekend.
There will also be a costume contest for puppies and kids with prizes to be won.
The annual dog costume contest will be held Sunday at Smorgasburg in Miami.
Plantation family hosts haunted house
A Plantation family turned their home into a haunted house this Halloween.
Homeowner Dan Bergman said it’s mostly for fun, but he’s working with South Plantation High School’s Key Club to raise money.
Bergman also said many of the decorations were made by the family themselves to add a special flair to the experience.
The home, located at 1821 Southwest 55th Avenue, will be open to the public from Saturday, October 28th through Halloween Tuesday, October 31st.
Mall O Vienna
A free, family-friendly Halloween event called Mall-O-Ween will be held at the Broward Mall on Saturday afternoon.
The indoor event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m.
Families can dress up and come to the J.C. Penney wing of the mall to enjoy trick-or-treating, live dinosaurs, and arts and crafts.
From 2 to 3 p.m., there will be a costume contest for kids divided into several categories, including the most original and the spookiest.
There’s also a category for Best Group Costumes that includes all age groups.
Howl-O-Ween Family Fest
The Howl-O-Ween Family Fest, sponsored by Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, begins Saturday at noon.
It will be held outdoors at the Shoppes at Pembroke Gardens along Southwest 145 Terrace in Pembroke Pines.
This free event will include games and family activities, including a family and pet costume contest.
Pre-registration is required for the costume contest, which begins at 2:30 p.m.
