BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) – Halloween is almost here. But for those who can’t wait that long and want to start getting scared early, there are events happening all over the place this Saturday.
Two events will be held simultaneously this Saturday at Lotito Park in Bluefield. At 10 a.m., the new His 5K begins, taking runners through the park’s fall foliage while raising money for the Bluefield His Beaver PTSO. He is divided into two parts: “Haunted Hustle”, which runs on the roads around the park, and “Trail of Terrors”, which combines running and fear. There’s also a Goblin Run obstacle course for kids. Cost is $25 for adults and $15 for children (Goblin Run requires donations only). However, if you pre-register, you will receive a $5 discount on race fees. The City of Bluefield will also hold its 9th annual Trunk-or-Treat at the same location, featuring bounce houses, food trucks, free pumpkin painting and more. It starts at 1pm on Saturday, October 28th and runs until 6pm.
“I think a lot of people enjoy Halloween. Adults can have fun dressing up like kids, too. And we all love seeing kids having fun. We’re doing a lot of things. So much of it is for the kids, so it’s a great opportunity to give something to the community and the kids in the area,” said Justin Hawkins, Special Events and Programs Coordinator for the City of Bluefield.
Princeton will also host a Boo Bash at the Chuck Matena Center on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 6 p.m. Trunk-or-treats featuring local businesses will also be held here. Additionally, there will be pumpkin painting and an outdoor viewing of the classic Halloween movie “Hocus Pocus” starting at 7:30 p.m.
Bramwell is hosting the Bramwell Spooktacular Halloween Festival for the second year. Main Street will feature games, food trucks, costume contests, trick-or-treating and more. The event will be held on Saturday, October 28th from 2pm to 10pm.
This coincides with Bramwell Theater Corporation’s annual Chili Cook-Off, which is in its second year. It will be held at the Masonic Lodge, 201 Main Street, on Saturday, October 28th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm.
Pipestem Resort State Park, in conjunction with the Southern West Virginia Runners Club, will host the 47th annual “Pumpkin Run” on Saturday, October 28th. This includes a 10km run, a 5km run and walk, and an 800m ‘fun run’ for children aged 12 and under. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., run is scheduled for 10 a.m., and fun run is scheduled for 11 a.m. A costume contest will also be held. Learn more about.
Across the border in the city of Richlands, the Richlands Police Department will also be holding a trunk-or-treat on Saturday, October 28th. They encourage family-friendly (and non-political) decorations on participating vehicles, with certificates awarded to the best decorated vehicles. Participating vehicles are asked to arrive between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. The event itself will be held from 3pm to 5pm.
At Tazewell, a Halloween event will be held on October 31st, the day of Halloween. There will be pumpkin carving and face painting on Main Street from 3 to 5 p.m., and Trunk or Treat on Main Street from 6 to 8 p.m.
Also, this Halloween in Tazewell, the Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office will hold a costume contest at the Tazewell County Courthouse. There, people can donate to vote and the money raised goes to support Project Lifesaver, a program that helps find people with cognitive disabilities who may have wandered. Masu.
Back in Princeton, an event called Monster Mash will be held on Main Street on Halloween, October 31st. This includes a DJ, candy, and a costume contest. It starts at 6pm.
