STARKVILLE – A chase that started at a Sprint Mart on Highway 12 West and ended at a Walmart Supercenter just around the corner has landed a Natchez man behind bars.
Nicholas Jackson, 19, was arrested Sunday morning by the Starkville Police Department after police received a report that he had threatened a woman with a gun at a convenience store.
According to an SPD press release issued Monday, Jackson fled the gas station when officers arrived and led a half-mile pursuit to Walmart at 1010 Highway. 12 W. Once there, Jackson abandoned his car and fled into a store. Officers then subdued him and arrested him.
“Our officers were able to successfully contain Mr. Jackson and arrest him shortly after entering the store,” the release said. “A firearm was recovered. It was clearly a dangerous situation, but no one was injured.”
Jackson was booked into the Oktibbeha County Jail and charged with felonies including escape, assault by simple threat, two counts of obstruction of business, resisting arrest, concealing a deadly weapon and failure to have vehicle tags. ”
