It's been nearly a decade since Google last announced an update to its flagship smart thermostat, but the long-awaited product is finally here: the fourth-generation Nest Learning Thermostat is now available to order. This improved smart thermostat boasts a sleek, modern design and a host of new features to help keep your home comfortable and save you money on your energy bills.
With an all-new, Pixel Watch-like look, this thermostat is very different from previous models. It has a larger 2.7-inch dome LCD display, giving you more information at a glance, and the screen changes depending on your proximity: it shows the time and weather as you walk by, and shows details like humidity and air quality as you get closer. The thermostat also supports up to six Nest temperature sensors for multi-room control, and seamlessly integrates with Google Home and Matter, the new smart home standard.
While there's a lot to like about the new design, some features may leave users wanting more — especially since the new thermostat doesn't have a built-in air quality sensor or touchscreen, which could be a turn-off for some buyers.
At $279.99, the fourth-generation Nest Learning Thermostat is a bit pricier than other smart thermostats on the market, but it does come with a new Nest temperature sensor that costs $39 on its own. Plus, the updated interface and eco-friendly features might be enough to attract a lot of potential buyers. If you're ready to buy one for yourself, the fourth-generation Nest Learning Thermostat is available at Best Buy, Home Depot, and the Google Store. It appears to be shipping now.
