DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Do you have unused or expired prescription drugs? Safely dispose of them during drug take-back days.
Saturday, October 28th is National Drug Take-Back Day, and residents across Ohio can dispose of old drugs through their local law enforcement agency. Events will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at most locations.
Drug Take-Back Day provides a safe and convenient way to dispose of unused or expired drugs. The collection site will accept tablets, capsules, patches, and other solid prescription medications.
Syringes, sharps and illegal drugs will not be accepted at collection points. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, must remain sealed in their original containers. The cap must be tightly sealed to prevent leakage.
According to the DEA, non-medical use of prescription drugs is the second most common form of drug abuse in America. Safely disposing of unused medications helps prevent accidental poisoning, overdose, and abuse.
The Drug Enforcement Administration is leading this nationwide event, with approximately 5,000 local drop-off locations across the country.
