A man walked into a Beavercreek, Ohio, Walmart on Monday night and opened fire, injuring four people and sending them to the hospital, police said.
The incident occurred around 8:35 p.m. ET in Beaver Creek, Ohio, in Greene County, near Dayton, authorities said.
Beavercreek police said the gunman died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
On Monday night, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the FBI and other local agencies were on scene to assist Beavercreek Police with their investigation.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families affected by this terrible tragedy,” police said in a statement.
Police said they had no additional information on the condition of those taken to the hospital.
Walmart also released a statement to ABC News, saying company officials were “heartbroken.”
“We are saddened by what happened at our Beavercreek, Ohio store,” the company said in a statement. “The situation remains evolving and we are working closely with investigators on the scene.”
Police said they plan to share an update on Tuesday. Further details were not immediately available.
