On October 31, kids and parents alike dressed up in their best costumes and headed to Flushing for the NYPD’s 109th Precinct’s annual trick-or-treat event.
The 109th Precinct hosted the event from 3 to 6 p.m. for local children to gather, get free candy and have a chance to meet local NYPD police officers.
The building was packed by 3 p.m., and local children were making the most of the free candy opportunity. The children showed off their Halloween spirit by wearing creative costumes such as Disney princesses and pumpkins.
Dennis Winters, vice president of the District 109 Regional Council, was busy making sure each child had enough candy.
“We buy candy every year and it makes a lot of kids happy,” Winters told QNS. “This is a great day for kids to get to know police officers. It’s great.”
109th Precinct, just a stone’s throw from The Shops at Skyview Halloween celebrations began at 4 p.m., with a DJ, costume contest, and photo opportunities.
As of 4 p.m., there was already a long line of costumed children with their parents waiting for a photo opportunity while enjoying Halloween music.
The event lasted until 4 p.m.
