- Flare partners with Web3Auth to bring simplified login to DApps.
- The new login system creates a “Web 2.5 experience” for Flare users and developers.
Flare, the Layer 1 blockchain for data, announces a strategic partnership with WaaS (wallet-as-a-service) infrastructure provider Web3Auth to support Web3 apps and services similar to the current login model. enables simple and secure login. Use only your email address and password. Flare’s decentralized application (DApp) developers will now be able to incorporate Web3Auth’s solution into their apps, allowing users to log in to their wallets using their Google, Facebook, or Twitter pages.
Web3Auth leverages a simple self-custodial two-factor authentication wallet setup for both Web 2 and Web 3 apps to provide a seamless login experience for users. This wallet service brings a simple login experience to apps and wallets to Web 3, dubbed the “Web 2.5 Experience.” This is intended to “onboard non-Web 3 users” who find it complicated to use blockchain wallets in their current form, Flare. Filip Kopribeck, Senior Solidity Engineer, said:
“Onboarding non-Web3 users is a big hurdle for existing dApps and developers. Our decentralized and secure method, which combines traditional social login with Web3 authentication, eliminates the need for new users to set up private keys. You will be able to use the product immediately,” Kopribek added.
Create a “Web 2.5 experience” for your users
By partnering with Web3Auth, DApps on Flare can now remove their dependence on Web 3 wallets or seed phrases to access their assets. The partnership brings the Web 2 login system to Web 3 apps, creating a “Web 2.5 experience” for users, using their existing Google, Apple, Telegram, Discord, and all OAuth-enabled accounts to connect to their Web 3 wallet. You will be able to log in. This eliminates the complexity associated with Web 3 wallets while maintaining the high security that seed phrases provide.
While using the Web 3 wallet, users are provided with a 12-word or 24-word seed phrase that allows them to access the wallet. However, once a user loses their seed phrase, there is no way to recover their assets. These phrases are difficult to remember and prone to human error, scaring non-Web 3 users for fear of losing their assets.
Web3Auth allows Flare users to log into their wallets using a traditional login process, improving user experience and accelerating adoption of blockchain wallets. Both Web 3 users and his non-Web 3 users can benefit from an easy login process. Additionally, Web 3 developers can increase traffic to their DApps and streamline the onboarding process.
Seed phrases are praised as an added layer of security. To ensure that wallet security is not compromised, Web3Auth allows you to preserve the non-custodial nature of your wallet management system. In other words, users maintain full control and ownership of their crypto wallets, reinforcing the privacy and security principles inherent in blockchain technology.
Flare becomes the latest Web 3 platform to adopt Web3Auth’s “Web 2.5 Wallet Login Experience,” joining over 500 Web 3 projects including Binance Extension, Metamask, Kepler, Kukai, Skyweaver, Kash, Coub, and more.
