While the Pixel 8 Pro’s thermometer only works to “measure the surface temperature of everyday objects,” Google has filed an FDA application to take body measurements. While we wait, the Fitbit app is working on integrating the Pixel 8 Pro thermometer.
About APK Insights: In this “APK Insight” post, we have decompiled the latest version of the application that Google has uploaded to the Play Store. When you decompile these files (called APKs for Android apps), you can see various lines of code that hint at future features. Please note that Google may or may not provide these features, and our interpretation of them may be incomplete. However, for the ones that are near completion, we will be able to show you what they will look like when shipped. Please keep that in mind as you read on.
Fitbit 4.06.7 reveals work on how to “take your temperature using your phone’s thermometer,” which is likely referring to the Pixel 8 Pro. It will probably appear as a new card in your Today tab.
“Choose whether you want Fitbit to save your temperature data in your Fitbit profile.[保存]When you tap , your phone’s thermometer starts sharing data with Fitbit, including this result and all future results, unless you stop sharing. ”
It appears that readings taken with the Pixel’s thermometer app will sync and automatically appear on your Fitbit, but you’ll need to upgrade to signing in with a Google Account for that to happen. You can now view the Track your body temperature over time graph using Fitbit.
The introductory string explains how body temperature differs from the changes in skin temperature that wearable owners already get. “Body temperature is measured with a thermometer and reflects the temperature inside your body. Skin temperature fluctuations are the fluctuations in temperature measured from your wrist while you sleep.”
In addition to the Pixel 8 Pro’s sync integration, the Fitbit app also lets you “manually record your results to Fitbit.”
Meanwhile, Fitbit 4.04 was widely released yesterday, displaying the device’s battery percentage in the top left corner.
Some APK Insight decompositions benefit from the JEB Decompiler.
