MINNEAPOLIS — Dating apps like Hinge and Bumble are a popular way to find a date in 2023.
But what if it’s not for you? That’s what a woman in the Twin Cities area found.
“I know I’m not the only one who’s had a really bad year on dating apps,” Julia McClellan said.
What appears to be just a traditional Christmas card has more of a message.
“It says, ‘Are you seeing this on your friend’s refrigerator? Are you a single man between the ages of 25 and 35?'” McClellan said. “I work in marketing, so I make music on the side, so I’m always thinking of creative ways to get my message across. So I try to do that in my dating life. And dating apps aren’t going to be very fun this year, so why not give them up?”
She has the horror story to prove it.
“I think the worst part was that he was telling me that he had some co-workers who were women. You know, I decided that women can’t make rational decisions. “It felt like he was really trying to make a decision,” McClellan said. “That’s a reasonable decision for this guy.”
Since she posted it on TikTok a few days ago, several people have slid into her DMs.
“Right now, my Instagram DMs are full, and that’s kind of fun. Some people think, “Oh, she’s a scary person,” and some people think, “Oh, she’s a cute person.” Let’s do that.’ Look, you never know,” McClellan said.
For Julia, she said it’s about stepping out of her comfort zone to ring in 2024.
“It’s a fun energy. With the new year, you have to do something like this, try something new, try something new in the new year,” McClellan said.
