When will I receive my February Social Security check?
Below is a schedule for February to receive your Social Security check or SSI money.
- February 2: Social Security payments for those who have received Social Security benefits since before May 1997.
- February. 14: Social Security payments to people whose birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of a given month.
- February. twenty one: Social Security payments for people whose birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of any month.
- February. 28: Social Security payments for people whose birthday falls between the 21st and 31st of any month.
How is the Social Security payment date determined?
The Social Security Administration typically ships payments on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday of each month. The day you receive your check depends on your birthday.
- If your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of each month, your payment will be sent on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.
- If your birthday is between the 11th and 20th of each month, your payment will be sent on the third Wednesday of each month.
- If your birthday is between the 21st and 31st of each month, your payment will be sent on the 4th Wednesday of each month.
Payments to SSI recipients typically arrive on the first of each month, with some exceptions described below.

What if I receive both Social Security and SSI?
If you received Social Security benefits before May 1997, or if you received both Social Security and SSI, your payment schedule will be different. Instead of receiving your payment on Wednesday, you will receive your Social Security payment on the 3rd of each month and your SSI payment on the 1st of each month.
If the 1st or 3rd of the month falls on a weekend or holiday, these payment dates will change. For example, because February 3rd falls on a weekend, a Social Security recipient will receive her February payment one day earlier, on February 2nd.
What happens if my check doesn’t arrive on the scheduled date?
If your check doesn’t arrive by the date listed above, the Social Security Administration advises waiting an additional three days before contacting us. Then, please contact a representative at 800-772-1213. (SSA says wait times will be shorter Wednesday through Friday and weekdays between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m.)
