Hyde Park, New York — Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at the FDR Presidential Library and Museum and FDR National Historic Site Home. Free entire day of holiday events. The museum is free and open to visitors from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. FDR’s House (Springwood) will be open for tours from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be holiday decorations, refreshments and special events.Activities — including annual events Children’s Reading Festival and Free Photo Time with Santa — Begins at noon at the Henry A. Wallace Center. Additionally, Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site (Valkyr) will be decorated for the holiday season and open from 12:30 to 4 p.m.
Holiday cards for children’s reading festival, Santa and sailors
The annual Children’s Reading Festival, hosted by the Roosevelt Library and Friends of the Poughkeepsie Public Library District, will be held at the Henry A. Wallace Center on December 9, 2023 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Children’s book authors read their books and sign copies. Featured books are available for purchase at the Wallace Center’s New Deal Store.
Children’s Reading Festival authors include: barbara ann mojica The author of Little Miss History takes a trip to Hyde Park, home of Franklin D. Roosevelt: Presidential Library and Museum; barbara guerriero flight Memoirs of a White House Dog: My Life with President Franklin Roosevelt. 1940-1945.
Additionally, there will be live music, so Free photo time with Santa From 1pm to 3pm, even kids can make their own. Holiday Cards for Sailors of the USS Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt (www.surflant.usff.navy.mil/ddg80/) Starts at noon. In the afternoon, enjoy refreshments in the lobby of the Wallace Center.
Holiday Open House – December 9, 2023 – Roosevelt Library and Home, Valkyr
The Dec. 9 Holiday Open House will be held at the FDR National Historic Site House and Roosevelt Library from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both the home and the study at the Roosevelt Library will be decorated for the holiday season, just as they were during Roosevelt’s presidency. Admission to the Home and Library is free all day.
Eleanor Roosevelt National Historic Site (Valkyr) It’s also free, decorated for the holidays, and open to visitors on December 9th from 12:30pm to 4pm.
