FALL RIVER ā Superintendent Tracy Curley is pleased to announce that longtime educator Elizabeth McKinnon has been appointed the new principal of Bishop Connolly's Early Learning and Early Learning Center.
McKinnon, who grew up in Fall River and attended schools in the city, is in his 31st year with Fall River Public Schools and will oversee the day-to-day operations of two of the district's three early learning centers, which are part of the district's effort to expand preschool education in the area.
“Betsy has dedicated her life to serving Fall River students, especially our youngest generation of students,” said Superintendent Curley. “I am pleased to see her continue to serve our young people in her new role as principal of our Formative Early Learning Center.”
McKinnon began her career with Fall River Public Schools 30 years ago, teaching kindergarten students since 2007 and first grade before that. She earned her bachelorās degree in early childhood education from what was then Bridgewater State University and her masterās degree in special education from Providence College.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to continue working with our youngest learners,” said McKinnon. “Kindergarten has long been my passion and I look forward to serving the needs of my students.”
McKinnon is the mother of four adult children and lives in Little Compton, Rhode Island with her husband.
The district's goal is to consolidate the two locations into one center in the 2025-26 school year.
