SAN ANGELO, Texas (Concho Valley Homepage) — As the fall season begins and winter approaches, several groups from across Concho Valley are coming together for activities, festivals, and more to honor and support local veterans. We host all kinds of events. Here we list some of the upcoming and ongoing events for 2023.
veterans day
20th Annual Veterans Day Parade
- It would be remiss not to mention one of San Angelo’s greatest tributes to veterans across the nation. The event features parade floats, tricked-out vehicles, horseback riders, and more, and locals from all walks of life rush to both sides of the streets of San His Angelo to watch the procession.
- Date and time: Starts at 11am on November 11th
- Location: Downtown San Angelo

Rudy’s first annual run
- This event is the first in a series of memorial events to be held in memory of Bryce Rudisell, a fire training instructor at the Louis F. Garland Department of Defense Fire Academy at Goodfellow Air Force Base, who passed away on October 2, 2022. This is the third time. 1 mile, 5k, 10k runs. thanksgiving veterans dinner
- Enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving experience as the Tom Green County All Veterans Council hosts its 20th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner. You can eat in and take out. Cranberry sauce, anyone?
- Date and time: November 5th from 1pm to 4pm
- Location: 125 S. Browning Street
Red, white, we want you!
- Sponsored by the Texas Workforce Commission, Workforce Solutions, and Texas Medical Center, this event connects transitioning military members, military spouses, National Guard, Reserve, veterans and their families with potential employers at no cost. A statewide job fair held for. To job seekers.
- Date and time: November 9th 10am to 2pm
- Location: McNeese Convention Center
battle of the bands
- This unique event pits eight bands against each other over three rounds to determine the winner. Each round will be held at a different location and date, but don’t let that distract you from your goals. Funds raised from the battle will be donated to the Tom Green County Veterans Council. A silent auction will also be held in the final round.

christmas veterans dinner
- If you liked All Veterans Council’s Thanksgiving meal, you’re in luck. The organization will also host its 20th annual Christmas dinner in December. The event features a plate of home-cooked holiday meals and a visit with Santa Claus himself. You can eat in and take out.

PTSD support group
- As the name suggests, this weekly gathering is held to provide support to veterans and first responders with PTSD. This event is also hosted by the Tom Green County All Veterans Council.
